Fishing my (our) pond.

Having problems with our water quality. I was at my (our),pond by where I work couple of weeks ago. And there was a thick coating oil or fuel over the top of 1/3 of the lake. I sent the Water District a letter telling of the situation. They said they would look into it. Yesterday I was fishing it and I saw some type of ugly pollution being dumped by someone? I took a picture and I am going to report it again. This is awful! Someday I'm going to go there and all the fish are going to be dead! Any suggestions of anything else I can do? Does anybody else have this problem with their Waters? Here is the picture and the picture of the two fish I caught in this Lake yesterday.
I Would call the EPA and report it because it may be toxins that are entering the pond.

Jonmaly, I think I would contact the local CO, take him/her down there and show him what is going on.
I wouldn't eat those fish on a bet. I wouldn't even let Oz or bad bobby eat them.

If you knew where, you could get it tested yourself to see what it is. I wouldn't know where or how much it would cost but I would sure like to know what it is, if it were me. Along with notifying the EPA and whoever else I could think of.

I think it is coming from a drilling pipe refurbishing yard.It looks like it may be A cutting fluid rinse? The oil or fuel that I saw on the surface had A bad petroleum smell to it.

I am kind of worried that when the pollution hits the fan they will know I am and my co.is the whistleblower. I fish it on A good day three times.morning noon and after work for 20 mins.I am the only one that fishes it. That's why I call it my work pond.

I would call it that too. And I would feel it my responsibility to make sure nobody was polutin it also. And if they found out it was me that blew the whistle, so be it. My house in Tahoe sits right on a meadow surrounded by national forest. Back in the 90's some of the people in the neighborhood got quads and snowmobiles. Well it was posted no motorized vehicles for the quads and during winter it has to have 6" of snow or more to ride snowmobiles. So I would call the sheriff when they rode their quads or snowmobiles when there wasn't enough snow. I became known as the @$$ hole that lives at the end of the street. It's a culdesac and I'm the last house so I felt like it was up to me to protect it. To this day, it still doesn't bother me that they felt that way. But they stopped ridin their quads and snowmobiles when they weren't suppose to.

Thank you! And you are totally right! I dont care. I should be proud to stop our water from being poisoned.and you have helped me to decide to call the EPA. Doesn't matter that I am the one.I will stand up to what I say.

Hello Saw1, just wondering where in the Tahoe area?
When I was a kid we had a cabin just off Upper Truckee rd in Meyers.
You anywhere near there?
The fire a few years ago burned that whole area pretty severely!
We used to hike from the cabin up to Angora lakes and fish for trout. Or we would walk 1/2 mile down to the upper trucker river and fish there.
Lots of great memories!
Hi Jonmaly, can you follow the pipe and see where it originates?

Just a few miles from there. Know all that area well. Have fished just about all the waters in that area also. Angora is one of our favorite spots to go jump off the rocks and cliffs . My 13 yr. old granddaughter loves it as much as her mother did at that age. I still spend as much of the summer as I can up there at the house and still fish all the lakes and streams and jump off the rocks too. I do leave the cliffs for the younger ones now though. A man's got to know his limitations. RIGHT? Any time you want to fish the area during the summer let me know, we'll hook up and catch some fish. You still fish Brentwood area?
