Lake Seminole
Hey guys,
My son and I are fishing Lake Seminole the 2nd week of March. I am a big planner and usually read everything I can get my hands on about the lakes we fish. I always order a Kingfisher map, and it is very detailed and specific about landings, depths, islands, etc.
I need some help. I have read about some particular areas on lake Seminole but I cannot locate them on the map, as they are not marked.
These are the areas I need help with:
Carl’s Pass
Chimney Islands
Joes Island
Saunders Slough
Holly Isles
Hutchinson Ferry
Any and all help is appreciated!!
Thanks!
MATT NC: I have no idea where Lake Seminole is. If your name and N.C. are referring to North Carolina, that helps someone who is familiar with the area. If not, give us a clue! RJS
MattNC go into your profile and update your location and then we can get you in contact who are familiar with where you're gonna be fishing. Like RJS I haven't a clue where Lake Seminole is.
Sorry guys. I have updated my profile info. Lake Seminole is on the Florida/Georgia line below Lake Eufaula.
Thank you sir! And with that, I'm pretty sure you're gonna hear from some folks who are familiar with that lake. But not from me. I'm in California.
Welcome Matt, Do you know Guy Eaker, he's from Cherryville also. He can probably give you some info, he used to fish the Bassmaster circuit, you probably already know that though. Really down to earth guy, met him several times years ago at seminars. I'm in Kinston, NC. Best of luck to you on your fishing adventure! Tight lines!
Yes sir. We have a hunting/fishing store in Cherryville. He is always up there lending a hand. I didn’t even think of him as a resource!! Thanks! Will take my map to see if he can help.
Take care
I would highly recommend hiring a guide. If you are planning on being there several days, then at least for the first day or two. It was a great place for trophy bass, then was silted up about 15 years ago after a flood and turned off. It has recovered. Scenery is awesome with osprey abundant and an occasional bald eagle. Some big-ass gators which are very protective of their nests. Big Jim’s is a good place to eat. It is right on the lake and serves a breakfast that will carry you through the day; best oyster stew (outside of mine) my dad has ever had. Also, there are trailers to rent for your stay at a very reasonable price. A definite bucket list locale for any bass fisher. Absolutely beautiful lake. I hope you enjoy.
Matt NC. I’ve been fishing Lake Seminole(mostly on the Florida Side)for the last 50 years or so. Most of the sites you couldn’t find are on the Georgia Side, and I probably know them by some other name.
I can probably find a map and mail it to you so you can see some of my favorite spots on the Florida side if you can give me an address to send it. There should be less pressure on the Florida side during the times you have scheduled, because almost all the big tournaments are fished out of Big Jim’s near the Spring Creek area.
That would be incredibly nice!! I would appreciate that. Looking forward to our trip!!

I received the map and your letter in the mail yesterday. I cannot thank you enough for taking your time to do this for me and my son. We have a Ranger z118 bass boat, and we would love to host you for one of the days we are down on the lake. We will definitely be in touch the closer we get.
Again, thank for for this most generous gift of the map, your time, and your knowledge of this lake!
God Bless!
Matt
Outstanding! That's the way this is supposed to work. I love it when a plan comes together.
Matt,
Looking forward to meeting you and your son. The way the weather has been here at Seminole has been cruddy, high and muddy, but that’s really ok.....those ol big sows should be waiting for the water to clear up and I expect March to be the best for bedding bass that we’ve had in quite a while.
