lI strongly agree. Trout is such a tender and mild fish, no need to cover the flavor

Many, if not most pictures of trout plates, show the entire fish, head fins and all.

I wonder why it is not true for bass/crappie, etc.

One of the best shore line lunch`s is to poach fish wrapped in tin foil on an open fire, with only a touch of garlic powder and paprika. Great memories too!

Looked that up sounds very tasty. Got a Ernest Hemingway recipe. Calls for 4 live trout. Is that the way you do it? And can it be saltwater trout.

I don't know about saltwater trout. Give em a try. They have to be really fresh or they won't turn blue, something about the slime on the fish reacting with the vinegar. I don't boil them alive - I gut them first. Haven't done this for many moons, but it's a for sure good shore lunch.

A friend of mine grew up eating rainbow trout. His favorite way is filet them roll them in Bisquick and fry them in butter. I tried it and it was pretty darned good that way. I put some salt and pepper in the bisquick.
