Best Fishing Cabin

Hi! So I am looking for some good recommendation for a fishing cabin. I would love to take my 12 years old son for a first trip on the lake to spend some quality time. I know how great it is to go out fishing and just chill with the person you love as my father used to take me on such journeys quite a lot. I have also been quite active during my school time with all kind of trips and there was a similar vibe every single time. So I would like to share some of my best memories with my beloved son and I am looking for some really good fishing cabin.

I know that we are all from different location in the US here, but I'm willing to travel quite far, well, 5-6 hours drive tops. Besides, the idea of this topic is also for you to share some of the memories and what is the best looking cabin for you, in your opinion, and which have granted you the best memories. I am sure whatever information you can provide will help me make a good choice.

Andy.

That really depends on your preferences. I always tend to go for cabins, which offer me the best view and nature. I really love to enjoy the nature that surrounds me even more than fishing itself.

Both those things are great of course, but fishing and enjoying a beautiful nature... well, this is something else indeed. Do you want to chill while having a morning coffee and see a deer emerging from the woods? Or reconnect with your friends and family looking at the beautiful sky, which is entirely different than the one we see in the city? Of course you do - and so do I. That's why I tend to actually pick prospective places for fishing based on the surroundings rather than the fishing spot itself, but that's me.

Yes, the nature is very important. I would have never picked it over a good fishing spot, but I love to enjoy the nature as well, usually by myself though. So feel free to make your pick based on how you like a certain location and I'm sure both you and your son will love it.

Of course nature is important. But there is far more to a good cabin than just beautiful nature to explore. Lately, I have been renting quite a nice cabin that looked very oldschool and classic both on the outside and the inside, but it really had everything that I would need, making it a beautiful place to stay with a family - I stayed with wife and two kids. Despite classic design, it had all needed modern accomodations and some nice features like can opener, steel plates, BBQ utensils, oven mitts, literally everything we wanted. And as long as we usually aim for an escape from fast-paced, demanding city life, renting a space with most comfort is a really smart move, especially when you will be staying with a kid.

When you go with a kid, getting yourself comfort accomodities is a really good choice. Get yourself a nice, modern place with great surroundings, preferably close to some walkable woods, so you don't bore your son to death with fishing all the time and also take him for some adventures. Then go back and provide with him everything he needs inside after a pretty demanding day.

Thanks for the opinion guys. Frankly, I wasn't really sure what I wanted to hear as it's a very subjective topic, but your opinions has surely made me much closer to realizing what I should rent, so both me and my son can get the best experience and have a lot of fun. I will definitely make my pick based on the landscape, but I will also get something fairly close to the woods, so my son will have a chance to explore both beautiful and exciting things, that only a contact with the real nature can bring you.

State Parks with Cabins, surely clean or I Agree with modern places. I like to rent at this point and I choose Mom and Pop places. Always check for bed bugs even at the Holiday Inn. I like truck tent camping most. Water proof and a good mattress.
Times have changed but we use to pull up to the shore with a poncho liner ,string and a good sleeping bag, fired wood and some ready to eat meals. Kids have never forgotten these outings. You can go a little more prepared but this style takes less room in your boat, canoe or kayak. Coose your locations carefully. This was 20 years ago. Those kids are doing the same with there kids today. I don’t suggest camp grounds unless it’s a state or federal park.
And your right, the outdoors, baring animals that eat people is still awesome.
