Hello, my name is Hank (aka Hankster) I live in the middle of the desert. A small town called San Manuel population 3,551 and that's on a good day. We have a post office a dollar general a dollar store a gas station called salt & pepper ( and they charge 12 cents more per gallon because they can. And we have a ace hardware. But you have to go there cause they don't answer the phone. But there is a good side We don't have any crime ( or at least nobody has been caught yet ) The Wife and I bought a house here a year and 6 months ago. But so far I have not found a place to go fishing. We moved here from the east coast. And I sure do miss fishing, crabbing & shrimping. So I took-up looking for gold. So far all I have found is fools gold. So that's my story. If anyone gets a chance look up this town and if you see a place to fishing please let me know. So far we have been going to Catalina which is about 30 miles away to buy catfish at $4+ a pound.

If you're from the east coast and love fishin, what in the world prompted you to buy a house in the middle of the desert where there isn't any fishin ? Don't say "no crime" . There are a lot of places with little or no crime that would be closer to fishin. Or did somebody give you that house? Even if somebody DID offer to give me a house that you couldn't fish near by I would say "No Thank you". That's just me though. Seriously though Hankster, welcome to the forum. I wish you the best and hope you find a place to fish soon. Tight lines and Merry Christmas.

Hey Hankster. San Carlos Lake is 2 hrs. north of you. Never been there but that's what the map shows. But it also shows a couple of small bodies of water right by (north) of San Munuel. Prolly dry lake beds.

Sometimes,,,,,,,,,,,, during beer time! No,,,,,,,,, I used to shoot flies out of the air with a bow. I can't do it anymore because of Parkinson's.

Trying to bait a hook must be hell. Sorry to hear that
I don't have Parkinson's just trimmers it runs in the family. That's why the males in our family don't disarm bombs or do brain surgery. But the Beer does help

San Carlos Lake Arizona 🌵🌵

When full, it has a wide variety of fish to chase, from the standard bluegill and green sunfish to carp, bullhead, channel catfish (up to 22 pounds) and flathead catfish (up to 65 pounds). San Carlos Lake is also noted as a springtime hot spot for crappie, with some of the panfish nudging the five-pound mark.

San Carlos Lake is on the Apache Reservation... You will need a special fishing license form the reservation. Early Spring ( full moon 🌕 in February until the end of April ) is the best time of the year to fish the lake. Most fishing is done from a boat. Some of the Walmart’s have Fishing maps with marked best fishing 🎣
locations and some of the types of lures to use. It’s best fish with a fishing partner because of the lake being in such a “REMONT AREA”... Go on line and do a Google search and ask questions, most fishermen are very helpful and can help you with any questions you may have.. Good luck 🍀 in your fishing endeavors..,

There is a Bass fishing club that is located in Tucson Arizona. You may be interested in joining the fishing club to shorten your learning experience... I strongly recommend going the fishing 🎣 club route because fishing in Arizona is a hole 🕳 different experience..

So, Ron, do I need an Arizona fishing license and a fishing license for the Apache reservation? Also, do you know if I am allowed to carry a weapon on the reservation? I would only use it for rattlesnakes as I do here in San Manuel when I go looking for gold. If you don't know that is ok. I can always find out. Anyway thanks for looking this info up. I do appreciate your time and your input.

I am not 100% sure about the need to have both fishing license... You can pick up a copy of the rules and regulations when you purchase your 2020 Arizona license. They may be able to tell you if it’s necessary to have both while fishing 🎣 on the Indian Reservation. I believe but not sure 🤔 on the Rez you only need theirs to fish. I don’t know what their rules are in regards to fishing, hunting. You will have to get a 2020 copy of their rules also. You may be able to acquire them on line. I know a lot of guys carry a concealed weapon when they are on the Rez, I don’t know if it’s legal or not... The main problem at times are the young kids, but I only hear things, don’t have any first hand experience... Some people are afraid to go there because of the story’s that they hear.. It’s like any place you go you have to exercise caution and be careful... The bass club in 2SUN Arizona are a great group of guys and they fish Lake Patagonia all the time and do really good at times. I will check and see if they have a website and let you know... Have a wonderful day, Later Ron... <%}~~~~<<

You can go to the Roosevelt chain of lakes there are 4 in a row or the gila river about 45 minutes north of you. It comes out of son Carlos lake but it’s run by the damn and sometimes it runs dry has little cats in it.
