built this for a fishing buddy it’s made out of a wild cherry sapling. It has a nice twist I seen him a couple weeks ago and he had a metal Cain I’m sure he will like this one.

Crafty little bugger, ain't he ?
That's damn fine work, Mike,
like all your projects we've
seen ! Just out of curiosity, did
you research that arrowhead you found ? It definitely looked like obsidian, so I'm guessing it was made much further west and acquired in trade !

I had an anthropology teacher that said 80% of the obsidian points found in North America came from obsidian formed in Yellowstone. There is also turquoise jewelry found on the East Coast from turquoise mined in Arizona, so his premise was that despite the constant tribal warfare the trading that occurred was sea to sea. Fascinating history.

If you have a rock shop anywhere near they could tell you. If you really want to find out. Not super important just interesting.

This is another really cool artifact that I have I think they might have used it to grind corn what are your thoughts. The rock weighs about 60 lbs the pit in it is around 7 to 8” deep and about 10” across

It does Mike. Looks like what they call in the Southwest a metate. Used for grinding corn, etc. Great stuff there sir!

Mike, on what posting was that arrowhead photo ? I've been
trying to backtrack through the forum, but don't remember the topic ! I'd like to see it again so that I can make comparisons to some photos I've found defining the styles of arrow/spear points from different paleoindian
cultures !
