Welcome to the Forum. Before the ice comes, any Deep Diving crack baits should work good. cast past the drop off and bring it back towards you so the lure passes the drop off coming towards you as you are closer to the shore. They like to hang next to the edge of the drop off so they can go up and get any fish swimming by from shallow to deep and back.

Rubber worms and jigs which scent on them you will do some bring you will learn the bottom and adjust speed of rebalancing retrieve to get up over larger rocks remember where that big rocks AR the love structure spares

Welcome Tool from Alabama Bill. Grubs on a gig head, crank baits, plastic worms. Remember that you will be casting to the deeper water and working it shallow unless your in a boat. Working deep to shallow works great just be careful of hanging up. If you come up on something instead of pulling it over let it fall back and then pull it back up several times. It helps in getting stricks/bites.

BTW if fishing from shore how do you find the Drop off?
Easy, use just a Pier Sinker/Finger sinker and no hook. Cast out and see how long it takes for the sinker to start to bottom out. The more line out after it hits the water will tell you if it is shallow or not. The Pier Sinker is less likely to catch on a snag. You can usaly pull it through the things that would hang a Lure or hook. Brush, ect. Rocks are a different story. LOL
If you have a boat go out to where the water color changes and then start back towards shore or use a Depth Finder.

Since you basically have them to your advantage in a landlocked area just a worm on a hook or rubber worm on a hook should work just fine get it down deep in the winter good luck
