As the bite begins to slow in my area and the rods go into closets: What are some good tips on cleaning my gear and getting it ready for the Spring bite? Both casters and spinners.

Edit: Reels as well. Sorry for not specifying.

Thanks!

I just cleaned all my rods. Used a magic eraser on the cork handles, wood filler, and then sealed them with U-40. They look amazing. My 20 year old St Croixs look almost brand new.

Otherwise, I just wipe the blanks down with damp rags.

I always disassemble and deep clean my reels. Pull up a YouTube video on how for each reel you own. I find that a through cleaning can be as lengthy as 2 beers.

Gonna be a good winter my man.

You probably know this, but you only have to use the U-40 one time, It is supposed to last forever. I haven't noticed that mine has worn off anyway.
