Complete noob about fishing

I have always dreamt of being a fisherman but never had the chance to learn how to actually fish. My girlfriend knowing about this gave me a fish pole as a present for my birthday but I don't really know what to do with it 😂😂😂 Really, I don't even know what to buy to start fishing besides the pole. Where can I find a guide for a complete noob like me?

I just started fishing with plastic crappe jigs and really light fishing line and ive been catching every species. I wish i had used one sooner. I recommend that as a "catch all" set up.
When you learn from videos make sure you reserch how the fish act during specific season's. Fishing in winter is different than summer but its always possible

Its discouraging to learn so much and spend hours not catching anything but thats fishing its not easy. I just got serious about it this summer and it took me a few trial and errors to get it rigjt but now im confident

google for your states rules and regulations. the booklet usually covers all the basics and likely will tell you where/when to expect beginner events to occur. States typically spend some of their budget on getting people into hunting and fishing

Ziggy you can a lot by just watching fishing shows on tv and videos would help. Just keep in mind that they are only there to sell tackle and lures. Start slow and be patient the big one is out there.
