Looking for info on places to fish, no boat yet, Jan-Mar on Charlotte Harbor and what fish would be in the Harbor during those months.

We had red tide most of the summer that killed off many of the fish. Snook and redfish are catch and release if you can find them. Best places could be along the eastern shorelines in north matlacha pass. If you're new here your best bet would be trout fishing. Anywhere there is a drop-off in moving water, fish the drop-off. No one can predict where the fish will be and half the fun of fishing is exploring the water. Get a chart of Charlotte Harbor, it will keep you off the sand bars and show you likely areas to fish. Shrimp is the bait of choice this time of year and the fishing will be slow. Most of the larger game fish have moved South for the winter and won't return until April/May. Remember it's called fishing not catching so get out and enjoy the water.
