I was working down in Hopedale, LA. one summer and the guy I worked with talked the boss into letting him have some shrimp from the Robin brothers shrimpers. We went home with several 96 quart ice chest full. I asked about a few but he would not let me have any. OK, be that way. Next Monday we went back to work. Everyone got paid for the last weeks work except him. He asked the boss where his pay was. The man told him that you got all those shrimp. Do you think that I am going to just give them to you. I bought a gallon of oysters from a cannery there for $20.00. Now that is a lot of oysters.

Black gnats! Those things took all the fun out of working down there. I don’t know how those people could stand them every day. They drove me crazy.

There are seasonal. You are right. They will run you out of the south. Im use to putting on spray with deets in it. But once you get away from the boat landing you'll be ok untill you go back to the landing. The fishing and shrimping are worth it.
