Can I bring a fishing line like this aboard an International flight departing from the US?

I’m departing from the US to the Amazon to fish peacock bass. Should I worry about bringing this fishing line in my carry on lugage? Would the US authorities sieze it? I cannot dispatch lugage.

Thanks in advance!

I've flown with Braided line multiple times, all domestic flights though, not sure about flying out of the country with it. Also I'd imagine youd have no problem finding line once there if you choose that route.

I've never flown out of country for fishing either, but the best advice to have is to call the airline ahead of time and ask. All airlines also have lists of objects that are excluded from their flights/planes.

I’ve brought all my tackle into my carry on before with stuff like, hooks, jigs, surface irons, senkos, huge shark hooks, line, reels, and much more. I just make sure to throw my knives and stuff like that in my actual suitcase

There are restrictions on FISHING LINES on international flights?
Take me, Lord; it's gotten too weird here.

Why would they have an issue unless they worry about some sore of counterfeiting or where bought. Take your receipt?

Right after 9/11 security really tighten up at the airport. Fishing line was labeled as a possible weapon. Over the years that ruling is becoming less enforced.
That said, I carry several fishing reels loaded with braided line and a few spare spools to Mexico without any hassle from Homeland Security.
DO NOT bring pliers, knives, hooks, any sharp object of any kind. They will find it and confiscate it. Believe me it has happened to me at the airport.
Since the braided line will be in your carry on luggage you need to check with homeland security. They will be the one making the decisions.

I too have taken flights to Mexico with reels loaded with fresh line in my carry on luggage. Have never had a problem!

During a mexico trip october 2019 on our return trip all reels and line had to be in checked bags. This had not been enforced in the past. Seems like the rules vary. Best advise plan ahead and be flexible.

Yes I have called the airline and received confirmation. They may/will refer you to their website explaining most questions/requests... I personally don’t believe that you will have a problem with it in your carry on...

Interesting replies from everyone. I have made over a dozen trips and have faced pure agony and frustrations to “WOW! that was fast”. IMO you need to check with the foreign country’s TSA website and not the airlines. The airlines main concern is with weight and size of your check-in bags. TSA will screen and X-ray it afterward.
The airlines have nothing to do with the contents in your carry-on. TSA will screen and X-ray your bag as you go thru security. The TSA inspectors will makes the final call not the airline. Are the rules and regulations uniform in each country? I doubted that from experience.
I agree with the previous answers. You shouldn’t have any trouble but have a backup plan ready.
