Love that bloomin onion! Which outback? I'm being nosy. Happy birthday Mrs. M!

Early Christmas present from my wife. Came in an Amazon package that got opened by someone that shouldn't have. She said I can't play with it til after. By the way, it's exactly the one I wanted - the 4601, smallest one, left handed. Look out surf perch!

Bail less?

Spirit, what time Christmas morning is the trial run? Will you wait for the Mrs. to at least open her gift?

Probably next day. You know I've got to get at least 3 maybe 4 more trips out of this year's license. I got to watch some videos on how to tune that thing up. I really don't want my first cast to be a backlash. I don't have a lot of experience.

Well that must mean you will at least be there for the wife to open her present. LOL

Good luck and may the first cast be empty. I hate that catch on the first cast. At times that first cast has been no more then a few feet. I swear 1st cast catches ruin the day.

Well, yes. It's a baitcaster. But it does have the level wind. I don't think I would do well without it.

Really? I've never felt that way at all. I have a tendency to look at em kinda funny if they don't catch a fish on the first go-round. Let's get this over with!

Must be me then. I have caught some nice keepers on that 1st cast and its like a signal went out. Plumbob's in the water head to the ocean. Nothing the rest of the day. And that's starting at sunrise.

Just share the pictures of the catch and enjoy doing the catching. Just like the bail less it is just another adjustment, I have a few lews that have not have the level wind, they were my Dads so I have to reach that curve myself.

Just like the spinning with no bail after messing with it, it almost seems right in the first place.

Is that a common superstition among us fisherfolk? I've never heard that one before. Now back when I used to smoke I thought it was a bad omen if I caught a fish before I finished my first cigarette. So I'd light one up right away and then smoke it kinda slow so as not to jinx myself. Then it was ok to catch one. And if I had made up my mind to leave I would always allow myself one more smoke before I reeled in.

Ornery describes someone who is difficult, someone who does mean things or is ill-tempered or obstinate. An ornery person is not evil, but he is obnoxious. Sometimes, ornery is used in an affectionate manner to mean someone who is mischievous, stubborn or a little naughty, but still loveable.

I am.a work in progress and with the help here I am sure I will improve.

OK. I have worn winter camo (all white) while operating with SEALs in Alaska in January. Did not see any snakes. Local to Kansas are they?

I still have a white parka and snow pants and white VB boots somewhere.
