What's a "redear"??
Around here it is a large member of the sunfish/perch family.
And put up a great fight and are good to eat.
Google them.
I have seen them caught on chicken livers while catfishing at lonestar lake by Lawrence ks, a little south and west.
If I caught a 5lb. one on the tackle I use it would wear the both of us out.
And I would have it mounted and be so proud.
Even better if one of my grandchildren caught it.

The first I've heard of them. Nice looking fish.

A 5 lb. One would be a better fight than a lot of othe 5lb. fish.
They have attitude, fighting spunk.
I couldn't imagine the size. Last spring a fellow here caught the state record bluegill, 2#7oz. and it was huge. Bluegill put up a great scrap as well.
Just 1 in my lifetime would be enough.

That's a fish. He had to be happy
Holy cow... quick question tho, is a redear a specific type of fish? Or is it just a name for super big crappie and bluegill? Because all the pics are of different fish, monsters but I've never heard of that name or term before...

I do JA. The Chrysler Dealership in Bastrop rite there on 71 used to give up his entire lot for a Joint Meet + Mopar Show Memorial Day that was attended by the Huston and San Antonio Mopar clubs and they'd allow stragglers like me from Austin join in for the party. Fun times if you're a car guy and love fishin' too, Jer
