Unnecessary spending

OK, it's honesty time. How much money does the average angler spend on trinkets that he/she KNEW they needed in the store but becomes confined to the tackle box for eternity?

I'll begin. There's that $159.00 10' rod that felt so good in the store but is still sitting in the garage after 6 months because I have yet to find that perfect matching reel. But I will eventually...……...really.

Then there are the myriad of lures that have been buried deep in one of my unnecessary tackle boxes for uncountable years...At least $300 bucks.

Then there are...………………………………………………….

If you ever want to offload some of that stuff, the 'JessAlynn is a Very Broke Angler and Will Accept ANYTHING' fund is happy to give you the address and even pay for shipping should you choose to donate....

Just sayin' 😅 I don't want to sound needy, but I have been fishing again for only 9 months; starting fresh from when I was a kid. Needless to say I am building from the ground up. I have a monthly allowance on what I can spend on tackle, poles, reels, line... bait; you name it. I am using washers and nuts instead of weights, reusing everything, making my own bait/keeping my worms alive and healthy and also advancing way past my current equipment set.

So if anyone has had the luxury to overspend on dookickies and whatnot and have a 29 year old stash of fishing poles, hit me up and they will find a good home.

I feel you pain, but my son seems to butter up to me whenever I buy new equipment.

Actually I am thinning out my fishing gear, after many years of collecting. I am in the beginning stages of the thinning. My grandkids will probably take most of the lures, although many plastics may be remaining. I have many items that could help you out. I will look for you again on the post in say a month. Dan

Possibly my original post will take an unexpected turn in assisting others in filling their tackle boxes with items other anglers don't use.

Hey Jess, if you have bait shops in your circles of fishing lay it on the line with them to possibly check out new items for them. Manufacturers give them samples especially of scents and one of a kind lures to see if they will sell. Rods and reels may be a challenge but don't know unless you try, just a thought no harm in asking.

-DD I honestly didn't mean to divert the topic DD, so sorry.
-Plumbob, I don't have anyone that I fish with here in Bastrop, I wish I did! I hate fishing alone, and being a girl tends to lead to misconceptions about my wanting other things, or lack of talent/love of fishing from the prodominatly male Anglers in the area And curiously, the closest baitshop is 37 miles away, I have to rely on the big box stores for my gear.
-Dharvey3 Appreciate that sir.

Thought I was in the boonies, my closest bait shop is 25 miles. You do present a challenge for acquiring samples or trial run of lures. Do you have a PO box where folks could send you their items that aren't working for them? Keeping your privacy is a must. Paying for postage would cost you as much in the long run as ordering from items at Amazon.

So let the forum know if you have a PO box or can get one I would suggest that the folks Pm you and see what could be arranged.

Please be careful there Jess, don't want to see you on the news.

Also I suggest they send a picture of what they are talking about to send you.

Sounds like you may have a few things you are not using there Stevie. If so maybe Pm Jess and help a fellow fisher out.

I have to have a building just to store the fishing tackle. I have an addiction but look at it as "collecting" rather than just having unneeded stuff.
