Just wondering about how you guys would save some new line on an old reel. Would you reel it onto an old reel, then put it on a new reel like you would when taking it off the new spool? Just wondering what would be the best method. I am thinking of buying a new reel and hate to loose the new line. Thought about the tree or bumper method of straightening the line. Spool it out then walk down with it in my hands to help take out the curls then reel it on the new one spinning reel under tension? Just a thought I have had a time or two. I know there are a couple of intelligent guys out there who would like to expel their thoughts on this matter. Go for it.
What kind of line? If the spoils are the same volume, I’d just reel one onto the other.

I usually use braid. 30, 40 lb. Spider wire and others.
Use a power drill to unspool. Put an empty spool on a drill bit and vroom. It’s done.
If you put new Mono onto a spinning reel you must put it onto the
new reel the way it came off of the spool or it will be all screwed up.
You have to un-spool it as if you were taking it off another spinning
reel.

Taking off braid or mono? I thought braid. Mono is a whole new ballgame.

Thanks for the advice. I am using braid for now.
