I’m moving to Brandon, Florida in a week or so and looking for tips on fishing the area. I’m from Columbus, Ohio so I have mostly done bass fishing and cat fishing. Looking for tips, locations, and lure suggestions. Anything will help, excited to fish new waters. Thanks in advance!!

You can literally catch 10lb bass out of the ditch in FL, I wouldn't worry too much.

Florida is one of the places I've never been. Got a good friend who lives down in Bradenton, a little south of there. I hear the fishing is fantastic. Good luck.

Start with freshwater first and when they open up trout and redfish hopefully in January start saltwater fishing.

Check for red tide in that area. I live on the other side of Florida. Fishing has been pretty good lately. Get the Florida fishing rule book and learn what's what. Good luck.

Great state for a fishermen to move to. Freshwater all around you with a potential double digit fish where ever you go fishing.

One of my sons is moving there next week to Naples. FL. The forum has informed me of the concerns for red tide down there on the west coast. Changes my mind of a guide and boat to start off with, but still game to try the "10,000 Isls" trips. And of course the bass in fresh waters. Some years ago it was "found out" that we have that same strain bass here in southeastern NC! Plans were to introduce them here and the pre-study showed they were already here! LOL (Lake Sutton). I want to try snook when they open back up down there. Flounder is closed here for over a year yet. Maybe open in Fl? Hopene so... Southern fish talk with an accent… <grin>
