There's no right answer in my opinion. If it were me, I'd put braid on it and tie a leader of mono or flouro with an fg knot depending on water clarity.

For jigs and frogs, definitely go braid. Helps for much better hook sets as there is no stretch, plus braid cast and comes through cover so much better. As far as spinnerbaits go, I like braid for casting far, but others may say to use Fluoro or so least a fluorocarbon leader. Don't hesitate, throw some power pro on that Lew's and slay some fish! Good Luck Out There

I run braid on every set up I have. If I'm using spinners, cranks, jerks, etc, or the water is just super clear (which rarely happens in SE Texas) I run a 7-9 ft flouro leader.

I will occasionally use a leader on "walk the dog" type tops because the braid can get tangled in the hooks on the back and forth depending on the brand.

Jigs and spinnerbait I'd be using flouro . Topwater gets braid.

Learn on mono it's just easier to fix a rats nest, months after you think your ready try braid, then after you cut it all off then get some 20lbs j-braid.

Good luck.

If you go with braid use power pro it's the best I've found.

Especially with the frogs you must use braid. I prefer Power Pro ( Slick ) The slick costs a little more but it has a coating on it that will make it last longer and cast farther. If your going to be throwing crankbaits or spinning baits I would add a fluorocarbon leader. Just remember that with braid it doesn't strech so with your crankbaits you would want to use a softer rod or loosen up your drag so you don't pull the hooks out on a large fish fighting you.

Power Pro braid. I use it on all reels except for ice fishing.

Mono for topwater. Flouro or braid for sink baits. I prefer braid. Not so much memory. I hate line with a memory. What were we talking about? I forgot.

I use braid for both jigs and my frogs as you don't want any stretch in your line when fishing a frog.
