Alright so the situation is I want a light rod , at the moment I have a Shakespeare rod rated for 6-12 pound line , if I smacked some 6 pound mono on it would I be able to cast 1/16 and 1/32 Roundhead jigs farther ? It's a 5'6 rod , one of those catch more fish rods . And it doesn't say what weight lures you can throw on the rod.

Should be good. Usually I don't fish anything lower than 6 lb but that would be able to cast those lures easily.

A rod rated for 6-12lb line wouldn't be my first choice for lures that light, but you can try and see. If you are using plastics on the jigheads then they will add a lot of weight that will make them cast further.
The main trick to getting light lures to cast well is to make sure you are fully loading the rod on the back-cast and not trying to whip it out there.

I think it would but try it and see. I would doubt if you would be able to throw it very far.

Spiinning. Doubt a baitcaster can handle lures that light..

Longer rods rated for UL or L , medium taper will load easier with light lures ! The lure does not have enough weight to flex a stiffer blank and the shorter rods must be at least light power to cast well !
In other words the rod must load itself when casting lures with minimal weight
Longer lighter tapers in rods do this best !
