I have the Kastking Royal Legend. I absolutely love it. Zero backlash, smooth, casts a mile, looks great, fits my hand perfectly, and costed around $60 at the time I bought it ( 2 years ago ). I used to be a “high end “ guy.., not anymore. I fish quite often and have finally realized that I can have great, highly functional gear, for 1/4 of the price most people pay. Today’s low end gear is yesterday’s high end. 🏄🏼‍♂️🎣

I bought a Kass King baitcaster for $49.00. I want to learn how to use a bait caster reel with a low cost model before investing a lot more money. I have several models of spinning reels.Your son is doing the right thing if this is the type of fishing reel that he desires, with a low cost investment!!!

Some very interesting reading. How do you have the answer if you never used them? I am a CA tournament bass fisherman. I am on the water 2 to 3 times a week 52 weeks a year. Kastking has replaced my Shimanos, Carbonlites, and Abus, both rods and reels. Why would a competitive fisherman do that? Because they perform exceptionally well under all conditions. Ask Brent Chapman, of the BassPro Tour, why he is sold on them. Just got the new 9:3:1 reel, fantastic! Having 30 rods and reels on board, how much did I save? As of today, Best Buy.

For starters, the ABU Garcia Black or Silver Max are great reels. Economical and perform well. (I may be that "Ron guy".)

Nope, it was the Ron with some numbers behind his name.

Sherlock, you have my attention with Kast King reels. I will try one next spring. Thanks. (Wonder who actually makes their reels?)

I wonder who makes Shimano, Daiwa, Bass Pro reels etc. and how can they charge the price they do?
Everybody talk about Kast King but my search results shows that there are many manufacturers oversea that make reels at a affordable price. They even expanded into the saltwater sector. You can go crazy and spend hours doing a side by side comparison with all the reels.
A few years ago I had the chance to tour China and Hong Kong. I was surprised to learn that sportfishing is a huge pastime there. This might explain the revolution we are seeing. To complete for the dollar you have to improve your product and still make it affordable for the local residents. We are fortunate to be able to take advantage of this situation. All I am saying is the low price doesn't necessarily reflect on the quality of the reel.

What about KastKing line: braid, mono, flouro ...??
Hoping for something with low memory, visibility, and abrasion.

I ve just spooled up the Flouro and the braid . The braid is blue and lost some color . I ve had no problems . The braid seems a little coarse but like I say no problems . I noted that one post said , their friend said it was junk . Reminded of the old saying “ I don ‘t know it for a fact but I know it s true “. I have personal used the product and it seemed very functional , but I m not fishing in the Classic .

I'm with you Skbrownie on the braided line. I read articles that some brands here in the USA have a wax coating making it smooth. I guess they don't apply that coating over there.😱 But here is something that I found interesting. Oversea manufacturers make two type braided line, 4 strands and 8 strands and it doesn't matter what the breaking strength is, both lines will have nearly the same diameter. The 8 strands braided line cost a lot more naturally...So now that you know this fact you can imagine all the new speculations from everyone about the quality of braided line.😂

I have 5 Kast King bait casters and the best have magnetic not centrifical breaks. The new one they have out speed demon elite looks the best but for the price. I have been content with all.

I have the Kastking Royal Legend,Assassin,& Brutus... all reels for under $60. All the reels perform like $150-$200 reels. Smooth, light, comfortable, easy to adjust, good looking, and so far, long lasting! The braided line works just fine, and all my reels are spooled with Kastking Fluorokote line. In expensive, low stretch, abrasion resistant, low memory, small diameter per poundage, and virtually invisible under water! I’ve had all the so called “High End” gear and line... waste of money! Today’s “low end” is yesterday’s “high end. And it keeps getting better. Kastking Reels & 13 rods are now my line up cuz they simply work and don’t break the bank. High quality too. Amazing 🏄🏼‍♂️🎣
