What baits are best for bass fishing in Michigan?

When I’ve gone in Michigan, I’ve always had luck with simply the neko rig. My friends love using the plastic frogs for top water fishing, but I usually never have luck with them.

I’m self taught and have heard of the neko rig but never knew exactly what it is. Is it similar to the ned rig?

Similar, yeah but in my opinion it’s easier. But there’s a higher chance to lose your worm.
The neko rig is basically just a plastic worm with a band around it that you put the hook under the band. It stays pretty well, and I have always had luck. One side of the worm is weighted so it stands straight up once it hits bottom. You’d need to buy plastic worms and the little tool you use to put the band on, you could buy neko weights but I saw online that someone uses just smaller drywall screws to stick in the end of a worm for a cheaper option. This rig basically works when you aren’t getting luck on anything else- it’s good in murky or clear water.

Don’t overlook a wacky worm. I use the Yum Dingers and Senkos. Either will catch bass.
