I also wish for separate forums.

And what about the overlap? IE Stripers , Shad , rods & reels. Or you talking just water?

What about the folks that do both, or those that want to read up on both. They would have to jump from forum to forum. Sounds easier to skim a thread.

I disagree with plum bob here. If I am interested in fresh water go there; in saltwater go there. Having to open and close postings repeatedly only to find that they are not of interest due to the type of info is a colossal waste of time.

I think things are just peachy the way they are. (IMHO) If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

I belong to another fishing site, mostly local San Diego stuff.
Everything is broken down into different subjects. Freshwater, piers and surf, bays, ocean boat trips. There are lure building, kayaking, lobster fishing, hunting, and for sale and wanted to buy sections, plus more.
There's a "new post" that comes up first that has everything in it.
What's nice about it is that if you're interested in something from the past posts, just click on one of those subjects and all of the post pertaining to that subject are there.
There is a section like the chit-chat section here, it gets pretty heated in there sometimes.
The same people that are debating there are all friendly in the other sections. That section is not for the faint of heart. LOL.

I'm for keeping it simple - fishing and chit-chat works for me. I can't do the laundry at my house 'cause I've never been able to figure out my wife's system for sorting clothes. How many types of clothes can there be? She's got 7 or 8 piles going. I get colors and whites. But after that? Let's not go there.

When you start a post, just put Salt water or Fresh water in it. If it says Bass or Trout, I know it is Fresh water.

But we have three different types of bass here in the saltwater San Diego Bay.
We even have sea trout.

I agree separate/more forums would be more convenient.
There could still be an "all" forum.

Here's how my other site works.
Frist there's "new post."
There's the posting person's handle.
Then which forum that person is posting in.
If you want to read it later, just go to that forum. Just some examples.
Just showing a different take.
Not saying one is better than the other.
