I have only done deep sea fishing, but I moved inland, where Bass fishing is popular. I decided to take it up, and I have been having difficulties getting any bites. Does anyone know why that might be? I appreciate any help.
I didn't spend much money on gear, but I honestly don't think that's the problem. I went to Bass Pro, and got some discount stuff. I have watched various Youtube tutorials, and have tried their tips. Does anyone know any ways I might be doing it incorrectly?

Easiest way to catch Bass is a weightless wacky rig. Look it up and start there and then start adding/learning new techniques as time goes on. Also keep in mind winter is the hardest time to catch Bass in my opinion at least. The colder the water the more lethargic they will be and the more Finesse you will want to be.

Ok. I've been dabbling with the wacky rig, so I'll do that more often. In terms of winter fishing, what's a good place for other fish?

What part of the country are you in? What have you tried so far in terms of baits/techniques?

I'm in Folsom CA. There is lots of fishing there. As of baits, I got a pack of off-brand Senko style worms(green pumpkin), and some bass pro brand basic lures. I also have a spinner bait and a few dark green jigs. I usually do a texas or wacky rig, with weight sometimes. I don't have a boat though, so only shore fishing. The technique i use for the worm is trying to reel, and pause to get some wiggle action. As for jigs, i cast into some shrubs or weeds, and reel in slowly(and hope it doesn't get caught in the bushes.). I do a sweep, casting in random areas. Ive heard that when it's hot, bass go in the shade, so I cast there.

You have much to learn . You won't find much here . Too many think lures catch fish . That's nonsense . Wrong way to think . You , you catch fish with the proper tool at the proper time . You do it !!!
The bite can be tough to get this time of the year just gotta keep on fishing.
Slow down and fish it slow.
Find the baitfish, find the fish. In my area most of the baitfish are away from the banks and in deeper water. They are out of my casting range from the shore. I'm actually fishing the narrower rivers and creeks where they are catchable from the bank right now. I use a good castable sonar along with my eyes. Follow the baitfish and like someone else said slow down. The Ned rig will catch them even when they are lethargic. Senko is great, very versatile. You might try the Senko, Neko rigged. Have fun!
Try Lakes in the south Alabama Georgia Florida Louisiana where the water is warm. Or go for Stripped bass. Good luck. Enjoy the great outdoors.
