I always unplug my trailer lights from my tow vehicle.
Do I need to do that? Cheap trailer lights. Not sealed.

Are you talking about when you back into the water?

I always un plug with no sealed lights. I also wait a while after pulling out to let the water drain out of the light housing before plugging in again. If you don't want to deal with this just replace the lights with SEALDED LED lights. Even LED lights will get damaged if not sealed.

I do the same thing , I also unplug my gas line off the motor and run it until it quits before I pull the boat out of the water I don’t know if it’s a good idea but I’ve always done it , I think it not good to leave it set with all the ethanol that they put in the gas.

I think they recommend recreation gas, High Octane gas, in all smaller engines since ethanol has been added to our gas. I think the reason being gas with a high amount of ethanol in it could scorch the pistons. There must be someone on the Forum that knows what the deal is for sure. Let's hear it!

Ethanol is corrosive to the fuel systems if it sits there for a period of time.
I use an Amsoil fuel additive when filling up.

Most modern engines are made to run on E10. The problem with ethanol is sitting in the tank for prolonged periods of time. The reason is stated above. Your car/truck usually goes through the fuel relatively fast and doesn't sit in the tank long. Engines such as outboards, lawn mowers, etc that sit idle over winter is where problems can occur with ethanol due to what's called separation. I use non-ethanal fuel in everything except my automobiles. I speak from experience. I got stranded 5 miles out on lake superior a few years ago. They took about a gallon of water from my tank when I had it pumped out.

My ob is super economical. I would be plugging up the ramp for an unreasonably long time if I did that.
Also, I drive my boat onto the trailer. Not practical for me.

I do put flushing ears on and run the engine dry before winter storage.

Always run out gas in the motor before trailering it, and only put non- ethanol gas in. 1995 model 9.9 hp, never had issues. Cranks always on 2nd or 3rd pull. Really don't know what to say if you can't get non-ethanol, other than use Startron or Staybil ethanol treatment fuel additive. Best of luck to ya!!! Tight lines everyone!!

After I disconnect the gas I put it in gear and give it some throttle when it starts to dye I choke it that piety much empty’s the carb.
