Choosing a rod and reel for plastic worm (bass) fishing.

I'm a bit new to bass fishing and would like thoughts on best type reel (bait cast or open face) for plastic worm bass fishing.
While on the subject a good choice on rod type; length, action and weight.
I certainly appreciate any and all good feedback to shorten my learning curve and assure that "I am" the limiting factor in progressing rather than my gear.
Thanks,
Bill

You should go with a spinning reel outfit for plastics. Get a medium, weight/medium light rod 6-12 lb rating, 7' average length. A 2000-2500 size spinning reel with 8lb mono or braid equiv. This would b a good start.

Well. If you are new to bass fishing I would not spend alot of money on a rod and reel. You can get a good combo kit from Walmart or any other store. It's been a few years since I had fished for any thing. It depends on what you are comfortable fishing with. I decided that I would try the bait casting combo from Walmart. It's made by an u Garcia. I have always used an open faced reel combo. I hope this helps you out. Enjoy your next fishing trip.
