What rods should I get!

Hey Everyone,

So I have been in the market for some new rods and figured I would wait until the spring. I fish in Mass mostly so our season is sadly over :( However, with Dick's being 25% until tomorrow, why not treat myself. I also have a few gift cards there so I feel better about it. Who can give me some advice on how to blow some cash here? The reviews on their site are unhelpful and I find this community to be pretty knowledgable. I am looking these things - a Topwater casting rod and a Spinning rod/reel.

Topwater: I figured I would go with Medium - Fast. I throw a lot of walking baits so I would rather have that flex than go towards a medium heavy. Was thinking of going with the 13 Black Fate rod, but open to other suggestions!

Spinning: Don't totally know where to go with this one. Open to anything. Would mostly us this for soft plastics. I like throwing ned, wacky, neko and drop shot rigs but only have one spinning rod right now and it's not great. I looked at the Lew's Mach Crush but only because that was a combo.

Budget: Would like to stay under $300 total.

Thanks in advance and excited to hear what you guys think!

My shimano expride MH is a game changer.

I keep trying to go back to cheaper rods, but the sensitivity is surreal with this rod.

I throw jigs and crank baits shallow diving and top water. It's a great do all for bass, halibut, assorted fresh water fishing.

I have a 6 1/2 ft. medium, fast rod made by St. Croix that has a Shimano Soros spinning reel on it. With bass fishing, a 3000 would handle anything freshwater. I really like the rod.

For topwater. I’d you’re gonna be slinging light lures. A Dobyns Fury 733c is enough. It’s a medium heavy action but because Dobyns are super light. Their MH feels like a medium. A step up are Powell endurance’s. If you were to spend upwards to 300 for this rod, I’d chose Shimano Expride.

For spinning, I honestly enjoy my Daiwa AirdX. Great for the price and can spend money on more things.if youre going to be spending upwards to 300 just for a rod. I would get an Expride.

TacticalBassin is doing their buyer's guides right now. They go through all of their favorites in different price ranges. Tackle Warehouse is doing their Black Friday 20% off almost everything until Monday. I would look at some of those on the price ranges you're interested in. I think they did under $100 combos yesterday, which they had never done. They tend to use and recommend high end stuff, but they had a few casting and a few spinning combos right around $100. The other one I watched was the super high end stuff. I'm sure they've done under $200, under $300, etc... as well. Have fun getting new stuff!
