I've used spinning reels all my life. I just bought a bait caster setup and yes I had a couple bird nest issues. I put all six brakes on, now only 3. I'm getting ready to take them off as well. After reading this I will follow these tips. Sounds like great advice thank you.
Eric let me give you a little information about a baitcaster... Spool 𧡠up with a very good quality of 30 pound braid... Tie a 3/8 Oz. Jig on and adjust your reel and make a half dozen cast to check if all of the settings are correct... You may have to make a few minor adjustments to get the reel zeroed in... During fishing π£ you may have to make minor adjustments due the lure changes, wind direction and other situations... Just remember at the start donβt try to make real long cast... Concentrate on accuracy and not distance, that will come in time with more practice... Good luck with your new reel...

Ty again sooo much, I'll do that this afternoon in the front yard. I'm going to hit the jetty or beach tomorrow morning.

Oh, I had the 30lb braid put on about 10 days ago :)
ππ»ππ» A good quality braided line will make a world of difference in your bait-casting abilities... Just try and remember accuracy is always number one when casting any type of reel...
