I have a simple Showdown 5.6 but the real fun is my Aqua Vu HD7i connected to my 40 " 4K tv in my wood fire heated shack. Now I can see all the fish that don't bite 👀😁

I love my humminbird ice combo 597ci HD it's been replaced by the Helix units now. The unit is fish finder and a GPS that takes mapping chips. I use the same unit on my kayak and the bow of my boat. When you find a good spot you can mark it on the map.

I also have fished with a Vexilar FL-18 with the 6 ft. Zoom Feature on the left side for 20 years. I haven't found any reason to upgrade to a newer version "BUT", those who have will destroy my picture when they turn their units on!!! They have to go through a sequence to eliminate the interference. HOWEVER, those who have purchased the overpowered MARCUM units definitely destroy my picture if they come anywhere near me. My picture ends up with numerous flashes and it is impossible to tell the fish from the interference. Nothing will stop the interference until they move away eventually. I have taken to hiding in a portable fish house and catching and releasing fish quietly so people won't move in on me. I do a lot of night fishing to avoid the day crowds. Many do not believe the fish will bite at night but I can't tell you how many times the biggest sunfish and crappies will bite at night. They usually bite for a short time before dark, then stop at dark. About an hour later when most or all have left, many times the fish become active again and move up in the water column to feed on the insects coming out of the muddy bottom and moving to the bottom of the ice to feed at night, then retreating to the bottom at daylight. I can't tell you how many BIG sunfish and crappies I have caught from 9 PM - 1 AM. By then I usually have enough fish and even though I REALLY enjoy the solitude of night fishing, I go home to return again soon after. Some lakes are better for night fishing than others but many will provide a decent night bite. Glow jigs add a few minutes to the just before dark bite and work well for the bite later as well. With NO interference on my Vexilar it is fun fishing and watching how the fish react to the presentations and I have learned to be one of the (10% of the fishermen who catch 90% of the fish)". Fish caught in the lip with tiny ice flies can be safely released to fight another day. Good Fishing!!!
