I was just happy to get a Merry Christmas out of store employees. The Angels were and are at work.

One Christmas, in the school play, I was Scrooge. Quite a lesson from that end. There was a bunch of us that used to get together for Christmas and do toys. We would recondition bikes or swing sets and assorted stuff. Sometimes we would have to hustle to be done before daylight on Christmas morning. Part of the problem was that we were definitely slowed by the ingestion of beer. Of course, without beer we wouldn't have been doing that stuff at all.

None of us could afford to part with a C note, but all of us really enjoyed impersonating Santa.
