Never get fish
I went fishing 4 times and every time but one I didn’t catch any fish, the one I caught was so small it didn’t even count. Any tips on catching fish? I really want to start being able to catch fish because I want to do something where I only eat what I catch

Go out more than 4 times and throw more than a couple things.
If species isnt an issue, just throw an oldschool pan fish setup with a worm on a hook and a float.

Just keep fishing man, it takes a lot of time but eventually you’ll learn with time & experience. Good luck man!

Not all water has fish in it. So fish where you have seen others catch fish. Then do what they are doing till you get more comfortable with it. Watch YouTube on locations and presentations for the species you want to catch. Learning to fish has never been easier with all the information available to everyone nowadays. And... be patient.

And some not so close willing to offer up info.
Use the best lures possible. If it is still not working reel slow. If you think that is to slow reel slower
Stick with the basic bait fishing at first until you start to understand the fish and the location that you are fishing. Learn to fish the tides and once you do you will start to see what tides are best and what times are just a waist of your time to even fish. Learn your solunar tables or moon phase as this will give you a big jump to any type of fish that you are after over the other guys on the water. Lures might catch more and bigger fish but there is a learning process to using them so you a few important things stated in the above first and until you learn just use bait.

I very seldom catch any fish. Trying to catch bass every time I go out. After I lose 3 lures, I usually leave. (always 3).
Go fishing just before a cold front . Good weather for humans is bad weather for fishing . Greatly increase your chances , by fishing on dark cloudy days , or just before a storm . Stay at home when there are bluebird skies , until you learn to find big fish in deeper water.

No time fishing is wasted, the same thing goes for time sent hanging out at your local bait and tackle shops, talking and, more importantly, listening to the people who are frequently there. Oh yeah that thing about the too small to count fish, if it is legal to use that type fish as bait, fish of all kinds, and sizes, well most anyway, eat smaller fish. Use your small fish to catch larger fish.

Early this month my cousin and I caught about 18 black bass off the Rt. 50 Bridge in Ocean City Md. A week after that I went out caught 2 under size flounder. Of course I let them go, the last 4 times nothing. I tried other local locations. I just bought deeper pro+ hopefully this will give me an idea on what's down there, fish, structure ECT. Hang in there buddy, there a lot of knowledgeable people out here willing to help you :)
