Narrowing down on an orvis nymphing rod

Hi im trying to buy a new nymphing rod as i only have a 9’ 5wt and want to get a technique specific rod. Im interested in the superfine series but not sure to get carbon or glass. I read somewhere but i forget that the superfine is their best nymph rod (not considering hydros) but open to hear suggestions if theres a better option. So beyond the glass/carbon choice how should i choose a reel? Along with should i get a 10ft or 7.5, which im leaning towards because i do alot of close range fishing and sometime it can be tight. I read that 10ft is the move for nymphing so i dont want to make a mistake because this will be my main nympher for years to come. Please dont hesitate with suggestions and thank you in advance

What's wrong with using your current 9' 5wt for nymphing? What does it do well, and what limitations are you encountering?

Its just a little stiff and i want to get something a bit more sensitive and again leaning towards getting something a bit shorter.

Generally speaking, longer rods are more sensitive and better for nymphing and shorter rods are less capable but better for tight quarters. But usually, streams with tight quarters don't require nymphing, but can be fished with dry/dropper rigs. So it's hard to know what you're after here. What region are you fishing most often?

I got into Euro nymphing this year, and I'm really enjoying it. I don't have an Orvis (I got a Mystic 10'3" 3-weight on a screaming deal for Black Friday), but my fishing buddy decided to join me in this pursuit and picked up an Orvis Clearwater 10' 3-weight. So, I've been able to see the rod up close and play with it a bit. It's a really good Euro nymph rod.

If you are committed to the Orvis brand (no problems there, they're value for the dollar is really high, and I think they've been really hitting it out of the park the last few years), I'd go with a 10' 3-weight Recon, which should be a nice step up from the Clearwater across the board (for example, the cork on the Recons is nice, and not so great on the Clearwater).

The Recon is on sale right now because it just got an update and redesign (not sure how much of an upgrade it is--you could research that). So you could either wait for the new Recon or catch the current version for a nice deal.

The new Clearwater 10’6” 3wt is one heck of a rod for $200. It does well tight lining (European style nymphing), it does well with indicator nymphing, and I can even snip my nymph rig off and throw a dry or small streamer very well.
