Snakes aren’t “trash” fish like some people say. They’re fun as hell to catch and are way more fun to catch than bass.

Na man, here in SoFlo. biologists have found out that these guys aren’t do as much harm as once believed. They coexist fine with our natives and killing them does absolutely nothing to the ecosystem. They’re here to stay so make the most of it!

Do you catch them often on soft plastics? I fish for Northern SH in Maryland and while I get a good number of hits my landing ratio for plastics is awful. Either frogs or treble-hooked lures are the only reliable way to land on for me.

I always catch them on plastics. Usually soft frogs, and lizards. It can be a pain to hook them because of their bony head

Yea, the hard lip and their habit of grabbing prey by the middle instead of head-first like a bass make it maddening to try and keep them on the line.

I had one grab a 5” weedless swimbait, fought it for like 30-45 seconds before it spit it. Got the plastic back, hook was still buried and there were teeth marks all over the plastic. The snake just held on the entire fight.
