When Hacksaw was a lad(this was a very long time ago)
his grandmother handed him a bucket and told him to go down to the river and bring back water
So Hack makes his way to the river and starts to dip the bucket in the water,he saw two big green eyes looking up at him.
Hack dropped the bucket and hightailed it back to grandma's house.Grandma said "Well Hack, where's the water"?
"Granny,I cain't get no water! There's a big ol alligator down there and I'm fraid he will eat me"Replied Hack
Granny replied"Now Hack, don't you mind that ol gator none. He's been hangin round down there for years, and he ain't never hurt nobody.Sides Honey ,that ol gator is prolly as afraid of you as you are of him>"
Hack replied"Well Granny,if that ol gator is afraid of me as I am of him, then that water ain't fit to drink nohow!"

I was in Ethiopia in 1972 and went to a vineyard that had lakes on it which supposedly held Nile Perch. I had my dog, a smallish terrier mix, with me. I had my pole and was walking over to one of the lakes and I hear that little dog going off over something up ahead. I got over to where the dog was and he's barking at a crocodile that had to have been 15 feet long. I turned in my tracks and told him you're on your own buddy. Never did find out if there were any Nile Perch in there.

I was on southern Mississippi on a long weekend, went to a fairly large lake, and it was late evening, fished all night looking at the green dots about 20-30 yards from the bank all night. Well morning came and where the rest of the family woke from their camper,I asked one of them what them crazy looking green dots were. He simply did not answer me right away but took me to the end of the dirt jetty, and showed me where the many big alligators slid off the end into the water. The ole gate then informed me all those green dots I was watching all night were those big Gators. The next night I slept in the camper.
