I think I found a potential kayak...
I have been researching and for those of you who know my kayak plight and specific needs thereof and I found one that seems perfect.
Hopefully the $478 dollar price tag is way way way out of my league, so here's to praying that the black Friday sales are really good this year.
What do my kayak fishing buddies think?
Looks good to me. Actually nifty. Shorter craft are more difficult to keep on a true line and don't handle waves as well. Good price though.
Have you looked in Craigslist?
Jess A, not a fan of the sit in yak. The raised seat keeps my butt dry. Cargo area in front or back? If it is in the front going to be difficult getting to it. Also where would you keep your catch. I can only relate to salt water and a stringer is not advisable.

It's actually a sit on top and it has a watertight 6 inch hatch in the front, a place for stowage behind the seat and at the very front of the yak. Also it has 4 mounted pole holders and I usually have a catch bag that I made out of PVC wrapped wire mesh and netting that acts as a in water live well
Okay if its a sit on top that's a good start. Only you know if the storage areas will be to your benefit. The front storage will be a little inconvenient mainly because you have to lean forward vs just reaching behind you.
As for that in water live well, I am like I said a salt water fisher and contend with the crabs, dolphins and been known to have the occasional shark. Then there are the snappers and snakes. Thus why I do a cooler behind me. That and it keeps my drinking water cool.
Keep us informed if you get it and by all means pics please.

Well if they put a very steep discount on it during the holiday season, I might. As it is, it is waaaay out of my price range.
just dont go less than 10 ft, 12 would be better,, been there dont that
Hey Jess A, while you are in the looking stage, I suggest trying out various lengths of kayaks. True the longer the yak the easier it is to maneuver. However given your height and you know your muscle strength, longer might not be good. Just a thought.
Hey Jess, if you have time go to you tube and watch the video TOP 5 Fishing Kayaks Under 500$ .. It may help you decide seeing you are on a tight budget.. The guy demonstrates them in part 2 of the video.. hope it may be of some help to you.

I have watched that one, but thank you for thinking of it!

I have muscular degeneration (100% disabled) and am only 5 ft tall, and I go out by myself... The 11.3 Sun dolphin Phoenix I have is way too heavy and I don't have a tow hitch or mounting brackets or even bars on the top of my Ford Escape.
Unfortunately that means I need a kid sized kayak and non inflatable, been there done those. I really don't have much of a choice to go any longer than 9 feet.
