Old Goat Loc: Alexandria, Indiana

I've been following for a while; finally decided it was time to join. So here's a bit of background.

I'm from Madison County, Indiana. I got back into fishing this year after an almost 20 year hiatus. Used to spend the summers with my grandparents up north when I was a kid. They lived right on the lake so I spent a lot of time wetting some line.

Out of nowhere this year I caught the bug. And it came with a vengeance. So I picked up a Zebco 33 and picked up where I left off as an early teen. My 8 yr old couldn't care less, but my 10 yr old is following close behind. We're both obsessed. Drives my ol' lady nuts.

It started 7 months ago with 1 pole and a 1 tray tackle box. Now I've got 4 poles and a larger tackle box that's already too small. But I don't have to tell you guys how that goes.

You folks have a good one. Check in with ya later.

Welcome to the forum from one old goat to another. We all know where you are going. Soon you will realize the 33 doesn't retrieve fast enough, etc. etc. Catch em.

Welcome old goat. Where is Madison County? I'm from St. Joseph County (where I was born) where the county seat is South Bend. I grew up right around there out in the corn fields around there. I had enough sense to get the hell out of there about 50 years ago and I've never looked back. Live in California now.

Welcome to the forum Old Goat. If you have young kids you’re not too old, but if you feel old that’s your business. Tight lines, and good luck fishing again.

You're right on with that 33 slow retrieve. Picked up a couple cheap spinning combos a while back. Had never used one but quickly got hooked on them (pun intended). I'm looking to upgrade now.

Well 27, Madison is smack in the middle. Corn and soy as far as the eye can see. I've got my eye on Tennessee, just gotta give it a few more years.

I'm only 33, but my wife often calls me a 90 year old man. Just because I listen to Jerry Reed and miss the days before everybody walked around staring at a screen all day. I grew up around an older generation and learned to enjoy the simple things in life.

Welcome to the Forum, OldGoat. You can see how this works. It usually does go anyplace, because most of us have no place to go.

Kinda like BBQ, low and slow keeps all the juices in. Patience is a virtue that takes time to master. Fisher folks have a lot of patience, well will eventually! Learning curve
