Is it okay to eat fish with worms in them?
Recently I have been fishing at a canal and I have been catching trout, redfish, sheepshead, drum and flounder. As I filleted some of them I have pulled out small white lines which I believe to be some type of parasitic worm. Is it okay to eat these fish?

If you can stomach the thought. Just make sure they are well cooked. The only good parasite is a dead one or one that's been voted out of office.

If you cook them fully you should be ok. I've eaten redfish for fifty or sixty years and haven't had a worm attack though I knew they did have worms. They didn't kill the fish and haven't killed me. It's up to you. Mike
Specks have those white parasites.
Don’t let them bother you. In fact, once frozen, they disappear.
I hear drum get worrier with age.
Never had a problem with reds or flounder. Jury is still out on sheepies.
All Wild Salmon that come out of the ocean have worms in them so as long as you cook them it is not a problem and the Japanese love there raw Salmon or sushi.
I could not eat them but thats just me i dont eat fish anyway it's up to you though good luck.
I believe sushi is frozen at near
40 below zero for a week or two to kill off the critters. People eating fresh raw salmon are crazy. I understand they’re quite parasitic.
I assume the acid in ceviche takes care of the problem.
The worms in fish are called nematodes they can cause gastrointestinal infection upset stomach nausea and diarrhea so eat if you want to just nasty.
If you think about it everything we eat and drink has some living organisms in it, it's just a matter of whether we can see it with the naked eye or not. So - - - -don't think about it. It's all going to same place any way. The circle of life.
Eat, drink and be merry folks, for well, you know.
make sure you don't make sushi. just cook them. the worms are added protein.
Almost every red grouper has some worms you can see and remove or cut around them. When cooked, you can`t tell the difference. Its all good nourishment. Only one with lots of worms are those big black drum. Pass on one loaded with worms, just too many too remove!

I heard too the the bigger black drum are suppose to be the worst. So, I don't eat any black drum. I haven't seen any in slot reds, trout, flounder, sheeps or any of the snappers.
