Republicans don't want to fix immigration - they want to shut it off. Democrats are the opposite. The real t***h is in between. We should have a program for temporary admission of workers and give them ability to earn citizenship based on stringent criteria (learning the language, educational attainment, civic responsibility, etc.). Then we could start to fill some of these needed jobs.
Both parties should seriously look to get people on the fence back to work and get workers to fill jobs nobody seems to want.
Sorry about the rant, but I grow weary about the inability of both parties to get important work done because no one can compromise. China is going to easily surpass us because we can't row the oars together.
