I’m looking for any advice on spots near broken arrow. I love to go fishing but I’m not very good at it, and I don’t really know where to go!

Hello 88. Welcome to the forum. If you are 65 or older you may want to consider a state owned & managed fishing pond just a mile north of Wagoner on hwy 169 (west side). The large pond is open only to Oklahoma seniors & is well stocked with a variety of fish. A road circles the pond so there is minimal walking & you can put your fishing chair down & fish from the bank anyplace. Wagoner is less than 20 minutes from Broken Arrow. I've fished there several times myself & can generally catch a good stringer of catfish. Tight lines.

I’m not over 65.. That sucks because I am actually disabled so I really don’t like going to places hard to get to. Thank you though!

Amanda, please check your local laws. Restrictions re: seniors often also applies to disabled folks, regardless of age as long as you have proof of disability.

Hello 88. Here is the phone # for the oklahoma Wildlife dept. 1 405 521 3851. Give those folks a call & I'm hoping you meet the requirements to fish in that facility. There may be other locations that have facilities to accommodate your handicap & those folks will be all to happy to help you. Tight lines.

Hello Amanda88, I live in Henryetta but my job has taken me all over Eastern Ok. How far are you comfortable traveling? The Tulsa city water dept has holding ponds 2 or 3 miles straight south of Catoosa on the West side of the road. There are a lot of strip pits in and around BA but I don’t know any in particular. I would go to BPS and hang around the fishing counter and talk to the workers there and make your needs known. Also strike up conversations with customers. Most fisherman are friendly and while they might give up their secret holes I bet most would give you some ideas especially since you’re disabled. There is a small lake North of Sapulpa that allow public fishing. It’s called Lake Sahoma or Pretty Water lake.

Grand lake is just over 1 1/2 hours from Tulsa. They also have public fishing venues

That is North on 69, not 169! Best places with easy access are, cypress cove marina, paradise cove marina, and long bay marina.

FYI, I'm new to BA area, and went to Claremore Lake first time about 2 weeks ago. Nice small fishing lake, and only 25 min from where I'm located! They do have a covered large dock for fishing outside, or inside (I understand it's heated so you can fish indoors in the winter.) A couple bucks to fish from the dock. Clean facilities, other areas to also fish from the bank.
