With the first freezing cold fall morning in Southeast Oklahoma, Grandpa Josh was taking my 11 year old daddy squirrel hunting for the first time. Little Tommy asked, why we needed to hunt squirrels when it was so blasted cold?! Grandpa replied, cause of squirrel fever can make ya sick, but is safe to eat. Due to the fever being hard on population, hunt them only in Fall and Winter and only can kill the makes.
Well little Tommy looking puzzled, scratching his head asked, Josh how in the heck can I tell the male between the female squirrel's in those pecan trees?!! Grandpa Josh whispers, listen for their nuts to rattle! 🤣
