After I caught the 23” bluefish, I hooked a bigger one. When I reeled it in near the jetty, it made a very fast run halfway across the inlet. Then I reeled it in again halfway to the jetty but it made a spectacular jump and threw the lure. Jumping bluefish usually throw the lure. I’ll try again today but I think that the run is nearly over. 3 bluefish in more than 2 hours of casting was slow fishing.
Blues are pound for pound one of best fighters & are worthy of respect (& wire leaders). I’ll have to get down the shore and give my arms & shoulders a workout.
