With all the umpiring this spring (41 games since April), my good friend & fishing buddy Larry and I took a day off for a hike up into a small lake in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
We had a pretty good morning fly fishing out of our Belly Boats. No Lunkers, but twenty-nine, 10-12” rainbows kept us busy on our 4 wts with 5x tippet.
We had the pond to ourselves with only a few hikers & dog walkers along the shoreline. A long overdue & relaxing 😎 morning!

Very nice! This just answered a question I've often pondered--can you fly fish while seated in a boat...?

Absolutely! In a Belly Boat with just a couple kicks of your fins, you can maneuver to always have the wind to your casting advantage! Great exercise too!

In over thirty years of Belly-Boating and just two float tubes, never had a leak while afloat. The UV rays do damage the outer canvas shell & seams but never had an (inner-tube) air bladder leak. I always wear my PFD. I've flipped it over once (setting the hook on a topwater LMB), but easily kicked my fins to get ashore.

Don't knock it until you've tried it Barnacles!
Great "aqua-therapy" for my old legs & cardio for my ticker!

And you don't have to deal with slippery rocks on the bottom of the creeks. Hey Mickey, were you up around Sunfish Pond??

Relatively close. Sunfish Pond is closer to the Gap (near route 80) on the Appalachian trail. We were further east of the Delaware River in a more remote area.

Thanks Fred! Yes, it’s always a lot of fun & this morning float on the water was long overdue.
Taking pictures in the belly boat is always a risky venture. I’ve already dunked, soaked & replaced 2 phones!

Good pics and a good day looks like it Mickey. Have you ever had snapper turtle or snake encounters while belly boating?

Down here in Florida freshwater you'd have to watch the alligators, saltwater you'd have to watch for sharks.
That's why all my boats has the bottom half with themπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Bob did you see on the news where that tiger shark grabbed the side of the kayak and tried to bite it in half???
I guess it would be cooler to fish that's why Mickey 🎣🎣

Didn't see that Chuck. Saw something briefly this morning on F&F about a shark attack, but wasn't paying much attention while fixing breakfast.
