New to site, I've been a fly fisherman for years but now I need to fish with a 4 year old grandson. Looking for info for this new phase of my fishing.
Welcome !! This is the place for information.
I suggest a light short pole, open face spinning reel, some worms and a location with blue gill, croppie and such.
Good luck and let the funn begin.

Good luck 56, itβs all fun and games Nowπ I would suggest a closed face, push button casting reel. I used that on most of my grandkids, and I have 13 of them. Short rod, a bobber, worm hooks, and like said already, find a blue gill or crappie spot and have fun. A sinker and worm on a hook, will find a catfish also. Ck with ODFW in your area and see if they have any suggestions as well. Send us some pics when the little guy lands the first ones!π³
Sounds like a good start. I was going for crappie and bass. Bluegill would fill the bill as well.
Thanks

I see you live in Eugene. There are lakes stocked with trout in the area like Cottage Grove and Dexter Reservoir. Either worms or power bait would work. I would get him a small spinning rod combination from Walmart. Don't get the Zebco push button real they get tangled too much and are hard to get the bird's nest out of.
From Eugene go North on highway 99 towards Junction city. There is a pond on the left side of the road almost to JC. Good place for kids. Nice dock there. Plenty of room around the pond to fish. I take my grand there.
