Morning All
I will be camping at Morro Bay, CA state campground from Sunday to Thursday (05/07-11/23). It has been over 30 years since I have been to that area. I was wondering if anyone has any information on the surf fishing ? I'm just doing the light gear fishing mainly targeting surf perch. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Gulp camo sand worms, 2 inch, and on a carolina rig. Good luck!

Thank You !
What size of weight are you using. In So Cal waters I use 1/2 oz.
Do you bump up in weight in Nor Cal ?

Depends on surf and current. I usually use 1 to 2 oz. pyramid or disc. sinkers. Gear plays a role also. Bigger heavier gear equals bigger heavier weights.

Bump up your weight if heavy surf moves it towards you…maybe one or two oz pyramid sinkers.

I agree with Foodfisher….use the camo version of Gulp sandworms. Other good baits: mussel meat, sand crabs you can dig up in the high surf zone, sand shrimp same technique, sand worms if you can find them. You might also try throwing a Lucky Craft 110 lure in the surf!
