Anxious for Spring to arrive!

We are coming out of "cabin fever" mode in NW Michigan and just when we thought Winter was over..."bam"...a late season snow storm! We received 12 inches at the house, and about 18" in a nearby "snow belt" close to home.

It's fun to push the envelope of opportunity as far as possible when it comes to things we like to do and have a passion for. Fishing and kayaking are at the top of my list...but there are a few others down the line as well...like riding thru the woods on a snowmobile. If you live in snow country, then there is typically a chance to also enjoy cold weather sports when the white stuff is on the ground!

Spent the past several hours soaking up the sun in mid 40 degree temperatures while putting on some late season trail miles before the recent snowfall turns into mashed potatoes. Enroute I stopped by several of my favorite sections of local trout streams as a prelude to opening day of the fishing season in late April.

As I rode as many random trails as possible, my mind could not help but wander to memories of warm balmy days on the water in pursuit of my finned friends that inhabit this region. Visions of standing in waders, paddling a kayak or trolling from a motor boat all played out inside of my helmet and I am very anxious to get started with open water fishing during the coming months.

Many of the following photos have been posted in the past, but I thought folks might enjoy seeing them fresh again as we all put our minds in mental preparedness for our next time on the water! Again...the fish photos are from my recent archives of past seasons, and not from today! The two snow scenes that lead the group "are" from today.

Wishing each and everyone on the Stage a spectacular fishing season ahead...and all the best that life has to offer on everything else you like to do!

Thank you Outcast! You guessed right! I could not resist getting out just once more for a ride in all this fresh snow. As you know, it mostly came down "wet", so with the warm air temps and direct sun it would not last very long! I tried to ride on trails that were still in shade as much as possible, where there was actually some powder, but for the most part, conditions were going "downhill" very fast!

Had a great time, and now the machine is ready to put in some Seafoam engine additive and take care of the usual "Summerization" routine so that it is ready for next season!

Thank you Billycrap2! I might have to sign up for "Casting 101" so I can remember how to flick a lure on a regular rod instead of lowering a jig down thru an ice fishing hole on a 28" pole!
