Yes I just confirmed they are taking out all 4 dams on the Klamath River starting this year and finishing up in 2024. It's a 500 million federal government program to restore salmon? We'll have to wait 4-5 years and see what effectw this has on the salmon to see if it truly was needed.

My understanding is it was well thought out plan to remove unnecessary smaller dams that don't generate or are too far to serve electrical needs of any community. These removals will hopefully allow salmon and steelhead, plus any other sea run spawning fish access to more spawning grounds. They are planning to build several dams that only purpose is to catch heavy rain overflows to hopefully save water against droughts. Unfortunately when they were building many of these older dams they didn't realize that generating electricity so far and having to transmit over such long distances was very inefficient and the loss of all the spawning grounds has had a long term devastating effect on salmon, steelhead, striped bass, sturgeon, etc. I also look forward to seeing what comes of this.

I liked fishing Copco and Irongate years ago for yellow perch. Beautiful place. Incredible stars at night.

There are yellow perch in California?! I wonder if they still hold in that lake? I loved fishing for them when we lived in Idaho. Great eating fish :-)
