Thanks i missed it earlier, I guess you never had one run right out as soon as you open the door to place the brick.

No wonder your hands were shaking.

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw once. it show two space aliens and they had an earth SKUNK. The skunk had buck teeth and a dumb look on it's face. The Alien standing behind the skunk that had it tail raised is holding a long slender device, said "Now the final probe".

The first time I stood there holding the door open for like five minutes. After that I just put the brick.

the cage was totally covered with a blanket so all skunkie saw was where I opened the cage. Moving slowly to cover with blanket without it seeing you is the stealth part. Their daytime eyesight stinks [no pun intended, lol] and I guess they feel comfortable in a dark, covered spot so don't come out until nightime.

Guess what? I just got home from Dr.s. Under the bird feeder was a fat ground squirrel sitting next to the baited box trap eating the bird spill. I looked around but no caddy shack cameras.

Canned sardines and bananas worked for me to catch a raccoon in a large live trap...

Good luck and you might need to carefully approach the cage to drape something over it to prevent being sprayed!

As long as they don’t lift their tail you’re safe. I’ve caught and released them. Put towel or whatever over cage. I’ve even kind of walked them away from house & ect. Just don’t startle them and you have a chance lol. But my dog years ago took 3blasts from one. I was on road at time, my girlfriend took care of dog. She wasn’t happy about it either. Made it up to her when I got back in town.

I got this from an old farmer that when he caught a skunk in his live traps he would spray ether on the skunk it would temporarily go to sleep and he would take it away from the house area and dump it out of the trap. When the ether wore off and it would wake up and run off.
