Ambassadeur reels can be quite collectable, but I do not think this one qualifies as collectible at all:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/313641127667?hash=item490677cef3:g:qLIAAOSwb~xhGvB2&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsO7G5f7hlMBgw1FejyPDd0f8CRB14clh6ZIW2i0nGmRlRw6D5Dmd4MW6z8Nj0eS7x%2F6Ff80lT2dFcJa5Aui3t5l4Lpa5CsR1de%2FcJOnnRm3IlpkP1UNl9Gr9byfVZ7H37kijvFGh9IlSh2gm0r1C9slxtnfwUuly0%2FQ%2BtWTwssNxre%2BUGrZQvrAohiJowDON4ccGcYok9tpAZruAozF698b9UN%2BOJp2D4Kcbw5EQiz1N%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6D04evIYQ

I am a real fan of Ambassadeur reels, but I would not pay more than $40 for this reel and then only if I was looking for hard to find parts.

I only buy products made in the United States
While Sweden, where Ambassador reels are made, is a US Allie and having just joined NATO they would be my second choice.
Yes I do pay more for American made products, and yes I would and have paid more than $ 40 for a quality reel made right here in the good old US of A

Ambassadors are now made in China. I have 4 that were made in Switzerland but I bought them 45 years ago 😆

You are absolutely right about parts being hard to find, I have retired 2 of mine for that reason

The C4 round reels are still made in Sweden. The Chinese versions are low quality.

I think if that reel was really that rare to be worth anywhere close to that price, the fact that he says it has an aftermarket handle on it makes it worth way less as it is not all original.

I have been finding parts for my old Ambassadeurs on EBAY with great success.
This guy’s pricing is a tad over my head. Since the reel handle is aftermarket, I wonder if he’d consider parting with the handle nut for $1.50? 🤔

Sir... granted that your patriotic rhetoric, (Buy USA! Do not regard cost as an issue. Support American jobs!). taken at face value, inspires those with a love for their country as the right thing to do. But, what happens when we peel back the surface layers and look inside of this onion to exam what is inside? Please, allow me a moment to share my experience in manufacturing and Corporate America. Jobs? In my last position I had to hire 4 Afghani Electrical Engineers to staff 6 total Industrial Electrician positions in a union plant due to a lack of applicants. In my current position, I have not been able to fully staff the maintenance department due to a shortage of qualified applicants. If not for the hardworking and wonderful people South of our border my staffing level would be at 35%. Don't even get me started on the way Corporate America treats its workers. Six and seven day work weeks, 12 hours a day, and you need every penny you earn to support your family. Treated like an unthinking piece of property owned by the company so that work is nothing more than a means to an end. Companies that take on tremendous amounts of cost just to justify management positions and all that cost gets passed on to the consumer in higher prices. I sir, will blindly support America but Corporate America can kiss my a$$. I decide where to spend my hard earned money. I proudly tow my USA made boat with a Toyota truck. I have zero issues with the Shimano Curado DC reel I just purchased to put on my new St. Croix rod. And anyone that thinks I am less of a patriot for doing so is deeply mistaken.
