A Surprise Visitor

Last night, somewhere around 3:00 AM I was asleep in my chair in my man cave. For some reason I awakened to see a young woman standing close by and leaning over to look both at me and different items on my side table. This table is where I keep a lot of my ‘stuff’.

On the bottom, are baskets that I keep yellow tablets on which I have written different stories, ideas for stories, lists of things I need to do, and such. It is full. There is a drawer at the bottom where there is a .38 Caliber handgun. It is unloaded, but there are cartridges close by. On the top are more baskets, and one small one where I unload my pockets of my wallet, knife, keys, and stuff one would carry around during the daytime.

Let me describe my surprise visitor as best I can. She was blond, may have been dressed in what I think was a khaki, or light-colored pant suit. As far as age, she could have been anywhere from early 20s to as old as her 40s. It was dark so I did not get a good look, and doubt that I could identify her in a police lineup. I don’t know what she was looking for. My first thought she was a burglar.
Since I no longer carry a real wallet but do have a business card-sized holder for drivers’ license, concealed handgun license and such. Inside that wallet is a $50 bill. I do not recall she ever touched or picked up anything. Nothing is missing.

Let me try to explain. I usually sleep with a mask since there are several lights on in the room, not bright, but just enough to be annoying. I often will have to adjust this mask because in my sleep it gets moved. That was how I was able to see the visitor, was under the mask.

Whether she realized I was awake, or was waking up, she turns and leaves the room. I thought about this incident for a moment, then got up and walked over to the door of our bedroom to see if she is still here. I did not carry a flashlight, nor turn on a light, but the best I could determine, she was gone.
All of which made me convinced that this visitor was likely a dream, not reality.
I have had some interesting dreams, but at no time have I ever had what appeared to be a real person, a possible burglar, come up and go through my ‘stuff’ or inspect it. If I had the presence of mind, I would have spoken to this person, attempting to engage her in conversation. I was really surprised to see a stranger in the room with me at 3;00 AM!

This morning, after I related my experience to Jean, she said she thought she heard me call her by name. I had not called her and did not want to wake her just because I had had a very visual dream myself. So, I will have to leave this as just a mysterious dream. Maybe it is related to the tremendous bump on my head that I received from my fall last Friday!

After thinking about this experience. First, let me explain why I often sleep in my man cave. I have found that I can be more productive by writing in the wee hours. At 2 or 3 A.M. no one is going to call you, so it allows me to search, or research different topics and store any completed stories in Word.

After giving this more thought, I strongly suspect the visitor might have been Lilith, the first wife of Adam. Whether you have ever been exposed to this or not, in both Mesopotamia and Hebrew early history, both relate that Adam had two wives!
The first, Lilith was a beautiful woman, but quite strong willed and held strong opinions. She questioned a lot of Adam’s decisions and wasn’t hesitant to challenge him. This extended even to their sexual activities. She objected to Adam wanting to be on top, and insisted she had every right to the same privilege.

Finally, Adam got tired of the continual arguments and Lilith’s second guessing of all his decisions, he complained to God that he could no longer stand her presence. This is when God, according to scripture took a rib from Adam and fashioned another helper, Eve!

In the King James version of the Holy Bible, in Genesis 1:27 is a verse that says: So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female created he them.
This may not mean exactly what it says, but one interpretation is both male and female human beings were created at the same time. So, if that is true, Lilith is the same age as Adam, and Eve was created later.

Between the time of Adam and now, Lilith was thought to have been responsible for causing young men to have erotic dreams! However, this did not happen on this visit.

If you have ever had a similar experience, let me hear from you. Obviously, my thinking my visitor, real or imagined, was Lilith is simply my imagination! Just Sayin…RJS

According to Jewish lore, Lilith was the first wife of Adam. Although not mentioned directly in the Bible, Lilith has been used to explain the two contradictory versions of Creation within the book of Genesis. Like Adam, Lilith was created from the dust and the earth, making them equal to one another. When Lilith refused to lie beneath Adam, asserting her equality, Adam insisted that she should perform her wifely duties.

By refusing to submit, Lilith incurred the wrath of God and fled to the Red Sea, where she was cast from paradise forever and became the succubus (a temptress of innocent men), the breeder of evil spirits, and a child-murdering monster of the night. Lilith's defiance of the masculine order forced her to become the ultimate symbol of all that is demonised within the traditional patriarchal society: chaos, seduction, and ungodliness.

It is this type of representation of the supposedly fallen woman that has contributed to the outdated and entrenched perceptions of femininity. By examining such a defiant figure as Lilith, The (Un)Holy Trinity seeks to draw attention to these dangerous perceptions of powerful women as being shameful, or demonic and to question why these attitudes still persist today.

So from the history of her could it be a set up? I would pray and asked God for more understanding and guidance.

Seeing that no one here was around at the time, just going to leave it as a Myth then. However Mr. Google has a interesting take on the topic.

That is an interesting take on the scriptures. I have never heard of any of this either.

Who said that Fishing Forum wasn't educational? Why did I put this in my story? I have no idea, just a whim!

It does help explain the "problem" of women being thrust into a subservient role. '
while Adam needed some relief, there's no reason it had to be forced on all females!
Thank you, one and all for your kind and considered replies. Not one responded to say I was crazy! Just Sayin...RJS

rjs do you live in one of those retirement communities that comes by and checks up on you to seeing you are OK? if so maybe it was a staff member checking to see if the guy slumbed back in a chair with a mask on was alive or dead after all you did have that fall and trip to the er recently. by the way before eve Adam was alone and having a first wife would not have been alone so I doubt some spirit of Adam's first wife came to see you ....as you say just saying
