I have two "big" trips on the calendar this year! I excited about both. Both trips are to new lakes for me. The first is in June headed to Lake Gogebic in the UP with my normal fishing buddies. Then in September I am headed to Canada with a fellow from church to fish Eagle Lake in western ON. This fellow has been going there twice a year for some time. He has shown me the pictures of his trips and I must say the fishing looks awesome. I know both are a long way off but i'm already getting excited!

There may be more than one Eagle Lake in Ontario. But the second lake above Chase Lake (sorry, don’t remember the river system) is Eagle Lake. I have been to Canada at least 25 times since 1992, and Chase is my favorite of all the lakes. I quit going there because the outfitter let the cabin run down (Walsden out of Kenora) and I decided I was too old to do outpost. The last time I was there Walsden told us they were rebuilding the cabin. Don’t know.

I don’t remember the name of of the lake between Eagle (it is small lake) and Chase, but the channel between it down to the front of the cabin is great walleye fishing. Also the channel between Eagle and the smaller lake has a rock face. We would drift that and catch both walleye and northern. We didn’t fish for walleye much in Eagle, but the northern were nice sized and plentiful (the second largest northern I have ever boated was in Eagle.

Sounds great.
I’ve been to Eagle Lake about a half dozen times. I highly recommend you get the Fishing Hotspots map. The lake is huge and there are plenty of hazards with the rocks in several areas. We stayed at Temple Bay Lodge and limited out on smallmouth, walleye, and northern pike every time. Great fishing. Enjoy.

The fellow I am going with has been going there twice a year for a very long time. If not I would definitely get a Hotspot map. That is always good advise when headed to a new lake

I hope you have a great time.
September can be brisk in the morning. Take good layers of clothes and an absolute must is rain gear.
I am anxious to see the pictures.

Looks like there’s at least two Eagle Lakes in Ontario. The one I referenced in my post is fly in only and about 75 miles north or northeast of Kenora. Good fishing.

I have never been to this lake but like I said my friend goes there twice a year. I is 140 miles north of Internal Falls.
