Hey peeps. Wife n I recently picked up yaks. She's more into pleasure cruise while that is torture for me to not fish while on the wet.
We're in NW AL and I've heard rumors of a yak tourny but have failed in verification.
My yak is a wm special that's marketed as a fisher but falls short of the target. I've done some mods and still have a few to incorporate to make it a better yak for me.
I'd like to hook up with other yak fishers for - 1) not being out solo. 2) learn of more or better mods to do. 3) learn more of my area. & 4) CATCH FISH!!
So if we have a community of Yakkers I'd be interested in teaming up for some outings! We can pm for coordinating and m&g. TIA and tight lines

TooMuch.....try contacting Allen and Jessica Norris at the "Yak Shak" in Birmingham. They are tied into the kayak tournament groups around the area. My son, JJ, is one of their product specialist. (www.theyakshak.com)

Hello 2Much,

Not certain where U2 hide out. Mine is a 17' Gnu. One ain't enuff for a gnu, n ain't got no Yak.

Where NE AL yawl disembark? There's great fishing holes all around you, and there's plenty more south of you.

There's plenty CLubs. U by chance yak'd the Talladega Creek Grist Mill, yet? Lazy Float and Clubbers Hole.

If you get a hankerin' to go fish, welp, I'm interested. I got 2 paddles, n we kn load any boat full a vittles. Gnu'n means Fish'n N Picknkn" 2me. N, I travel. But, ain't got no Yak!

In the last few days, I got another 17' gnu, and I found an old aluminum 1959 FeatherCraft Cisco v-hull settin' aboard an ole rusty trailer. Just gettin' it to the yard's its own story. Stuck the 1 7/8" short-shaft ball-hitch into the left of three hitch'em holes in the rear bumper, too short for a nut. Made it back to the TeePee without spilling anything on the road. Yeah, everything works, and it rolled real good. Might name this thing Ugly Ducklin, until I unruffle her feathers. Still ain't figured out what color paint matches an Aluminum boat, a blue gnu and a green gnu. This morning, was quoted 2 Benjamin Franklins just to sand-blast, another 1 and a half Benjis to prime N paint. That's more than half what I gave for the whole Tote'n Kabootul. Guess, will find some them extras layin' around the shed to help make the choices easy. Hope there's enuff sand-paper and oil-based enamel.

If I kn figure out how to get pictures off the picture fon and into this discussion group, welp, yawl kn picture that, then.

Agreed, let's listen to Mother Nature. Sometime before end of Feb, weather permitting sounds great!

We're gonna have to the State of AL and GOogle Maps. Seems, the town and the reservoir are a few more miles apart then I'd have expected. And, there's another area referred to as Bear Creek, along Bear Creek Rd, between Duncanville and Tusk. Likewise, HorseShoe Bend is down here on the Tallapoosa River. Maps located another Horseshoe Bend, nearby your Bear Creek Res. AL is so good at confusing some a them Yanks!

A buddy lives up there in Oakman, really close to an old bridge covering a gorgeous bend in one of the Warrior River feeder creeks, covered in Lily Pads. Might call it "The Lost Creek." Haven't fished there, yet. Is close to you. Something like 140 - 150 miles from your hut to mine.

There's also a few more spots on Lake Gainesville, just north of the Dam I'd like to fish.

Plenty of water to fish from there to here!

Creekman, that's about 70 miles SE of me. Unfamiliar with the area but sounds like a good mid point for some shore lunch!

Thank you Jackson. I'll look into it

Hey 2Much,

Check out aerial/satellite Google view of "G's Landing", Tutwiler Road (aka CR53): SE of Oakman on the Lost Creek, just North of the intersection with the Mulberry Fork. Seems all of this is part of the (Black) Warrior River system, as it flows southward, then onward into the TenTom.

Again, ain't been on the water there, before, but always looked enticing when driving over the bridge.

Plenty of boat docks and boat houses to fish, plenty of flower and fauna afloat, lots of bends in the river, a Fishin'-4k, what looks like fishing flats. Not very wide.

I can't tell you how to get there from The Bear, but when you get close, drive SLOW! The BLUs in that area are known to finance their salaries from waywards that can't seem to see those 25-35mph signs hid behind trees or layin' on the side of the roads.

Check it out! See wadayaThink?

I'm gonna call G's, justa find out more about bassin', bitin', and bates; times, temps, and weather patterns to fish.

Does anyone else know about this hideaway?
